Small-Group Activity on the 7 Attributes of a Hybrid Learning Environment

1. You have 20 minutes to complete this.

2. You'll need a few people to play specific roles. You may need some to double-up on

roles if you don't have five people in your group. Decide among yourselves who wants

to take on each role:

• Reader - You'll keep returning to this page to read the directions to the group.

• Time Keeper - You'll keep track of the time to ensure the group is moving along.

• Encourager - You'll encourage anyone who is not participating to voice an opinion.

• Synthesizer - You'll guide the group in answering the final question and share out in the large group when we return.

3. Go to our set of shared slides and find your group number. That will be your group's slide. (Look for the number matching your breakout room number at the top of your screen).

Double-check to make sure you're on the slide number that matches your group number. (The Reader should then come back to this screen to read the next direction.)

4. Your slide will have the 7 Attributes of a Hybrid Learning Environment around the perimeter of the slide and a stack of yellow "cards" in the top center.

5. Read the top card and discuss which of the 7 attributes is most aligned with the card.

6. Click and drag the card over to that attribute.

7. Continue until you only have 5 minutes left. (Time Keeper - pay attention!)

8. With 5 minutes to go, discuss your "hybridity takeaway:"

What will teachers and students need to do to rock a hybrid learning environment? Your takeaway can come from the "card" pieces, the experience itself, or some discussion point. See if you can reach a consensus and synthesize it into one "newspaper headline" (succinct and targeted) for when you rejoin the group.
